MRCHA FAQQ: Does MRCHA have a flying field A: No, Post Office field is the closest thing to a private flying field but it is not MRCHA property. We fly there by the good graces of the city of Bloomington. Therefore we need to make sure we do not abuse the privilege. Q: What are MRCHA’s $20 yearly dues used for? A: These are used to fund food and beverage at MRCHA fun flys free to MRCHA members. Other MRCHA benefits are fuel discounts and MRCHA website privileges. Q: How are communications handled in MRCHA? A: Communications of ‘general’ interest are posted to MRCHA’s Yahoo Group mailing list. These go to all participants on the mailing list members so try not to have long trains of emails on a narrow topic. For specific interests MRCHA has a forum for posting on various topics, including a ‘Classified’ section. Any forum thread may be tracked so that the website notifies you by email of new posts. Details on joining MRCHA’s Yahoo group are on the MRCHA home page. Q: Are there MRCHA membership cards if I join? A: Yes. The secretary handles the cards. We prefer to hand out the cards at meetings to save on postage, however if you send a request to

because you do not expect to attend a meeting, a card can be mailed to you. Please send your mailing address along with the request. Q: Where and when are meetings held? A: Generally meetings are on the first Tuesday of the month, however if meeting rooms are not available they are held on other dates (posted on MRCHA.org). In the warm months they generally are held at the Post Office field (see ‘Flying Fields’ on the website for location.) Outdoor meetings are short and the emphasis is on flying. In colder months they are held indoors with an emphasis on club business, show-and-tell and educational seminars. Dates and locations are posted on the MRCHA website. Q: Is MRCHA a ‘teaching’ club? A: Yes, MRCHA is interested in bringing new participants into RC helicopters. Meetings held indoors will usually have a ‘How To…’ segment. In addition, you are encouraged to bring your helicopter to the meetings and many members will be available after the meeting to help you set it up. We also encourage requests for help setting up or flying via the Yahoo MRCHA group email list. For example, if you would like help at Post Office field post your desired time and date and ask if anyone would be willing to meet you for help. Often you will find willing members, especially if you are flexible on time and date. Q: How do I use the MRCHA forum, such as make an Avatar? Are there MRCHA website guidelines, such as photo sizes, number of photos etc? A: Yes, when you navigate to the website forum, there is a link for ‘Rules’ which explain some of the nuances of the website usage.
